This search project offered exactly the right conditions for a truly successful treasure hunt. Everything was in place: a promising location, a motivated team and professional equipment.
- Precisely defined search areas where artifacts, relics and valuable objects were suspected.
- A well coordinated team of passionate treasure hunters.
- Carefully prepared scan fields for accurate and repeatable measurements.
While some volunteers stretched strings across the terrain, another treasure hunter walked path after path across the marked area with the treasure detector OKM Evolution. The string grid helped to define the scan field with precision and to maintain perfectly straight scan lines. This method not only made using the detector easier, but also increased measurement accuracy and significantly reduced the time needed for the survey.
Ground Scan Analysis
After the fieldwork, the scan data was transferred to a Windows notebook for detailed evaluation. In the 3D detection software Visualizer 3D, the scan images reveal much more than just colored patterns. They show potential target areas and, with the help of various optimization tools, help to estimate the size and depth of detected objects. In this project, the available scan data indicated finds at a depth of up to 50 centimeters.
Further finds clearly demonstrate that OKM treasure detectors such as the Evolution NTX can also detect objects at significantly greater depths.
Did the team already suspect at the beginning of the project that a coin hoard lay hidden beneath their feet. With every excavated coin, excitement and joy grew. Finally the entire bowl was filled with coins, and the feeling of success was written on every face.
The coin hoard was not the only discovery that day.
Treasure Hunters Follow the Traces of El Dorado
Further ground scans led to an even more spectacular find. The treasure hunters uncovered a large gold hoard with numerous statues and artifacts. The pieces depict animals, humans, gods and fantastical figures. Some statues are up to four centimeters high and weigh up to 300 grams, each one unique and full of character.
Whether these finds are connected to the legendary El Dorado or represent long hidden treasures of the Incas has not yet been determined. This assessment is left to experienced experts.

Regardless of the monetary value of the gold objects, for this treasure hunting team the discovery is priceless.
The Legend of El Dorado
The gold hoard that emerged from the earth immediately raised an evocative question in the minds of the treasure hunters: could this be connected in some way to the legend of El Dorado. For centuries, explorers and adventurers have searched the mountains and jungles of South America for a mythical golden kingdom, a place where rulers were said to be covered in gold dust and entire temples shimmered with precious metal.
Historically, El Dorado was not a city made of gold, but most likely a ritual tradition of indigenous cultures, in which a new ruler was symbolically covered in gold and offered gold objects to the gods. Stories of these ceremonies grew with every retelling until they became the powerful myth that still fascinates us today.
Whether this particular treasure is part of that legendary story or belongs to another local culture remains an open question for archaeologists and historians. What is certain is that such finds provide real and tangible insights into the beliefs, symbols and craftsmanship of the people who lived long before us. For the treasure hunters, standing in front of these gold figures felt for a moment like stepping straight into the heart of the El Dorado legend.
Questions and Answers
Why did the team mark the scan field with strings
The strings created a clear grid that helped maintain straight scan lines and consistent distances. This improves scan quality and makes later analysis in the software much easier.
Which detector was used during this project
The team used the OKM Evolution, a professional ground scanner designed for three dimensional scans and detection of buried objects at depth.
How deep were the first finds detected
The coin hoard was discovered at a depth of around 50 centimeters according to the scan data and the subsequent excavation.
What role does Visualizer 3D play in the treasure hunt
Visualizer 3D is OKM detection software that converts raw scan data into two dimensional and three dimensional images. It highlights potential targets and helps estimate object size and depth.
How did the team find the gold statues
After the successful coin discovery, the team carried out additional ground scans in the surrounding area. These scans pointed to further anomalies, which ultimately led to the large gold hoard with statues and artifacts.
Could the gold objects really be linked to El Dorado or Inca treasures
At this stage there is no confirmed scientific classification. The pieces might be connected to local cultures or legendary stories. Experts in archaeology and art history are needed to carry out a precise evaluation.
Can I also share my own treasure finds with OKM
